I built a tiny desktop app called Void Room.

It does almost nothing.

And that’s the point.

Sometimes you don’t want AI.
Sometimes you don’t want productivity systems.
Sometimes you don’t want notifications, collaboration, optimization, or another app pretending to change your life.

Sometimes you just want to say something into the void.

So I made a small offline-first writing room for Windows and macOS.

You open it.
Pick a session duration.
Maybe turn on rain or static noise.
And type.

That’s it.

No accounts.
No cloud.
No syncing.
No responses.
No “smart features.”

The void will never answer you.

You can already do this in Notepad.
Or a text file.
Or paper.
Or inside your own head.

But honestly, there’s something weirdly calming about opening a dedicated space that exists for one thing only:
getting thoughts out of your system.

Single-file app.
Very small.
Very local.
Very unnecessary.

Features:

  • Full-screen writing sessions
  • Session timer
  • Ambient generated sounds
  • Local session archive
  • Offline-only persistence

Current sound modes:

  • Light Rain
  • Static Noise
  • Silence

Platforms:

  • Windows (.exe)
  • macOS (.dmg)

No telemetry.
No accounts.
No servers required.

This is probably the most honest piece of software I’ve made in a while.

It doesn’t promise transformation.
It’s just a room.

A void room.
